Head of Marketing

 

The Role

As Bowery’s first full-time marketing hire, you will further establish the Bowery brand, developing and executing a marketing plan across multiple channels (e.g. PR, retail partners, online and offline advertising, events, influencers, and social). From the very tactical day-to-day to long-term marketing strategy, you’ll be responsible for building a premier, modern food brand and driving awareness of a new and quickly growing category. Reporting directly to the founder and CEO, this is a rare opportunity to develop the marketing function and support rapid growth at an early-stage, mission-driven company.

 

What you’ll do at Bowery

  • Establish marketing roadmap at Bowery by developing tangible goals and a plan to execute against them
  • Drive brand awareness on a regional and national level with effective tactics that take into account Bowery’s current distribution footprint and expansion plans
  • Work with external agencies and designers to ensure every Bowery touchpoint delights current and potential customers
  • Manage external PR agency to drive earned media
  • Lead launch communications for company, product, and partner announcements
  • Engage and expand brand following through content creation, email marketing, social media, and events
  • Cultivate relationships with influencers in the food, health, and environmental worlds and to develop brand evangelists
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, account management, and operations to support expanded distribution and secure partner marketing
  • Experiment with new online and offline channels to drive in-store sales
  • Perform market research and competitive analysis (both formal and informal) to identify areas for improvement in current messaging and drive its evolution
  • Represent the brand externally and drive the public conversation about the future of food and farming  

 

Who you are

  • 7+ years of consumer marketing experience at a fast-growing consumer-facing company (major bonus points for working on a “category creating” brand from a nascent stage)
  • A passionate and articulate storyteller who can tell the Bowery story clearly and compellingly
  • A rare combo of an analytical and creative brain -- equally comfortable with copy as data
  • Proficient with a wide variety of marketing channels including performance media, influencer marketing, and content
  • Excited about rolling up your sleeves to get things done, but also able to lead and delegate (people would say you’re the best manager they ever had but you aren’t set on managing others from the beginning)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to break down complex concepts and explain them simply to consumers
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented, have been an integral member of an early marketing function with limited resources
  • Consistent track record of driving awareness and expansion of new products
  • Strong intuition and understanding of what makes great creative
  • Experienced executing campaigns across multiple channels
  • Thrive in a rapidly changing environment with tight deadlines
